Table8 Reservation System Announces LA Launch

Last-minute pay-for-play reservation service Table8 has officially launched in Los Angeles: According to a press release, the service currently features 12 LA restaurants, including Alma, Republique, and Lucques. Like other services in the increasingly crowded reservation game, tables at "peak, sold-out times" are available for a "small reservation fee" that Table8 splits with the restaurant. Otherwise, co-founders Santosh Jayaram and Pete Goettner note that the reservations are free. In an interview with Eater earlier this year, Jayaram says "spontaneity" is key to the concept: "Most of these places you have to plan ahead for, but life doesn't always allow you to do that."

Table8 debuted in San Francisco this March and quickly secured additional funding, announcing plans to launch in LA and New York City. Its website notes that Chicago and Las Vegas are both "coming soon," and Jayaram and Goettner hope to "launch in 15-20 cities by the end of 2015."
