Can Gordon Ramsay Save Atlantic City?

New, 2 comments

Shouty chef Gordon Ramsay has plans to save Atlantic City from its own current kitchen nightmare. While local casinos — including Revel and Trump Taj Mahal — have shuttered or filed for bankruptcy, Ramsay is forging ahead with his plans to open a new restaurant inside Caesars. The only other brave soul to do so lately is kulinary kurveball Guy Fieri, who recently opened Guy Fieri's Chophouse inside Bally's.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reveals that Ramsay will take over the space currently occupied by Mia's, which is expected to shutter in October. There, he will open an outlet of his Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, similar to the location inside Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. According to a press release (below), the 250-seat restaurant will feature a patio and a vintage-style lounge.

Menu-wise, customers can expect a large selection of beers on tap, quintessential pub food like fish and chips, and a "rustic menu that will change seasonally." Plus, there will be cliché British "decorative elements" such as the iconic red phone booth. Can a cantankerous chef and a human lava lamp save Atlantic City? The world will find out soon enough: Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill is expected to open in early 2015. See the press release:

Gordon Ramsay to Open His Newest Restaurant at Caesars Atlantic City

Today, internationally celebrated chef, restaurateur, and television personality, Gordon Ramsay announced a partnership with Caesars Entertainment to open his first restaurant in Atlantic City at the iconic center-Boardwalk casino resort of Caesars. Located in the space currently occupied by Mia restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill will offer guests a sophisticated environment with a bit of 'Garden State' flair.

Michelin Star Chef Gordon Ramsay, known not only for his superior cuisine, but also his popular TV personality on the FOX Network programs "Hell's Kitchen," "MasterChef," "Kitchen Nightmares," "MasterChef Jr" and "Hotel Hell," emerged on the Las Vegas culinary scene with rave reviews at the recently opened Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace, Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas, and Gordon Ramsay BurGR at Planet Hollywood. Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars in Atlantic City will provide fans in the Northeast an outlet to enjoy the chef's award-winning skills in a lively and approachable English pub-style setting, offering the finest casual food utilizing the freshest ingredients.

"We're really excited after such a great success in Vegas to be expanding to Atlantic City. We have a tremendous team, and it's been a terrific partnership with Caesars," said Gordon Ramsay.
The menu at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars will be comprised of items consistent with British pub fare. Classic British favorites such as, bangers and mash, fish and chips and roasted chicken, as well as some of Ramsay's favorites like London broil prepared on a wood-burning grill, will all be part of a rustic menu that will change seasonally. Paying homage to a true pub, the new restaurant will feature a wide selection of craft and microbrews from around the world, offering beer enthusiasts more than 30 beers on tap.

"With the announcement of Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars, Atlantic City continues to elevate itself as a culinary destination, one that features big television personalities, celebrity chefs, and now a Michelin-rated chef," said Kevin Ortzman, President of Caesars and Bally's Atlantic City. "Chef Ramsay is one of the world's most highly-regarded chefs as evidenced by his multiple culinary accolades and we are honored to partner with him at Caesars," continued Mr. Ortzman. "Guests and fans can expect the menu at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill to feature some of Chef Ramsay's most well-known English Pub-style comfort foods while also taking advantage of the region's natural resources and local farms," added Ortzman.

EDG Interior Architecture + Design will create a space that is welcoming, high-energy and comfortable, utilizing distressed woods with cheeky references to historic and iconic events throughout the space. The centerpiece of the space will feature a striking bar with an array of beer taps on display and the backdrop inspired by traditional London red telephone booths. Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill will take advantage of its location with a patio area extending onto the casino floor where guests can be in the middle of the action. Kegs will serve as a major part of both the dining experience and the design, while pop culture relics from both England and the United States will fill the walls. The 250-seat restaurant will include an impressive bar, a vintage-style lounge, a series of casual dining rooms and a private dining room, giving guests a variety of culinary experiences to fit any mood.
