Steakhouse Sues Yelp for Identity of Libelous Reviewer

New, 23 comments

Sparks Steakhouse, which is based in New York City, has sued Yelp in order to acquire the identity and contact information for a commenter on the site. Besfort S. wrote a review that explained that when he was a waiter at the restaurant, he "spit [his] own saliva into dishes…Our manager actually condones it to guests who give us attitudes. Just double check your food next time you eat here." The steakhouse denies the allegations and apparently wishes to confront Mr. Besfort.

In a twist, the NY Post discovers that a man named Besfort Shala was recently turned down after he applied for a position at the restaurant. He denies that he's the Yelper in question, and has actually filed a police report claiming that someone has illegally used his identity on the popular review site. Another day, another Yelp lawsuit.
