fritz-blank-rip-150.jpgPhiladelphia chef Fritz Blank, who owned and operated the iconic Deux Cheminées restaurant before his retirement in 2007, has died. Blank's restaurant Deux Cheminées debuted in 1979, serving the self-taught chef's take on French cuisine; in 2005, Blank donated his massive cookbook collection to the University of Pennsylvania, which named it the Chef Fritz Blank Culinary Archive and Library. Blank retired and moved to Thailand in 2007, where he passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. [] [Photo: UPenn]
