COSTA MESA— The recurring Indie Chefs Week event (which has previously popped up in Austin) is heading to Southern California for its latest series, bringing 20 chefs to Costa Mesa from October 16 to 18. Chefs like Ned Elliot (of Austin's Foreign & Domestic), Tim Maslow (Brookline, MA's Ribelle), and Melissa Chou (San Francisco's Aziza) are among the chefs participating in three nights of collaborative dinners. FOOD TV— Food legend Jacques Pépin is currently filming what public television network KQED is calling his "final cooking series." According to a press release, Jacques Pépin: Heart & Soul will feature 26 episodes that reflect on Pépin's 60-year career, promising guests like Lidia Bastianich, Rick Bayless, and Ming Tsai onhand to celebrate Pépin's 80th birthday.
