Netflix is adding an original chef-focused documentary series to its lineup for 2015. According to Variety, filmmaker David Gelb — who directed Jiro Dreams of Sushi — will serve as director and executive producer of Chef's Table.
The six-part series will feature chefs Ben Shewry (Attica in Melbourne, Australia), Dan Barber (Blue Hill in New York City), and Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy). Chefs Niki Nakayama of N/Naka Restaurant in Los Angeles, Francis Mallman of El Restaurante Patagonia Sur in Buenos Aires, and Magnus Nilsson of Fäviken in Sweden are also participating. Nilsson is also currently starring in third season of The Mind of a Chef, the first two seasons of which can be viewed on Netflix.
A spokesperson for Netflix notes that "while some stories are best told as feature length films, others, like Chef's Table, greatly benefit from being able to communicate their story in a multi-episodic fashion."
