McDonald's Turns to Facebook for its Latest Burger

Photo: McDonald's Australia Facebook

McDonald's Australia is debuting two new burgers crowdsourced from social media. According to Burger Business, the sandwiches are called the McMate Angus Beef and the McMate Crispy Chicken and were "built with ingredients consumers voted [on] during a 'Build Our Next Burger' poll on Facebook." Because, really, what's the point of thinking of your own creations when you can just get the internet to do it for you? The name "McMate" was also voted on in another Facebook poll.

So what did the people demand? The McMate Angus burger features a one-third-pound beef patty with exactly one bacon strip, one tomato slice, and one cheese slice, plus garlic mayo, Southern BBQ sauce, diced lettuce, and grilled onions. The McMate Crispy Chicken also has the aforementioned ingredients but features a crispy chicken patty instead of beef. The two sandwiches will be available in McDonald's down under beginning on August 20. Hopefully none of them will contain expired meat.
