Kitchen Arts & Letters Sale; Murakami-Inspired Dinner

NEW YORK CITYLegendary cookbook store Kitchen Arts & Letters is holding a one-day sale on August 18, during which "hundreds" of slightly worn cookbooks and culinary tomes will be available for $1 to $10 each. The "Clean Out Event" is first-come, first-served only at the NYC store, and deals will not be available online. [EaterWire]

PORTLAND— Chef Ryan Roadhouse, whose recurring pop-up dinner series Nodoguro offers haute takes on Japanese food, will dedicate an upcoming menu to Japanese author Haruki Murakami. There's no spaghetti on the menu, but expect dishes like "Midori's broiled sablefish" and a fig salad with tofu cream. The dinners will pop-up on August 6, 13, and 19; more information here.
