The guy behind the potato salad Kickstarter will use the funds to throw a music festival. The campaign has officially raised $55,492 from just under 7,000 backers over the course of a month. At one point the campaign managed to cross the $70,000 mark but lost nearly $30,000 overnight after several large donations "didn't meet their verification review."
Zach "Danger" Brown, the man behind the Kickstarter, plans to use the funds to throw "PotatoStock 2014," a free music festival where Brown will sell concessions for charity, and will give out potato salad — a promised perk — to campaign donors who attend. The festival will be held in Columbus, Ohio on September 27. Brown is also hosting a potato salad party at a restaurant in Toronto on August 5 where the chef will "teach Brown how to make an amazing potato salad."
