Russia Taunts USA With Proposed Bourbon Ban

A Russian watchdog agencies is threatening to ban imports of bourbon from America. According to the Down Jones Business Wire, Rospotrebnadzor is "preparing the paperwork to ban Kentucky bourbon whiskey Kentucky Gentleman." Reuters writes that the agency claims it found sigs of phthalates, which are "organic chemicals." in the bourbon. A spokesperson for Rospotrebnadzor says that it's currently looking into banning "this distillery only."

As tensions have been rising between Russia and the U.S., Russia has been threatening to ban multiple products from the U.S, including poultry. The country's food safety agency also announced that it will examine "suppliers of McDonald's cheese" for "safety reasons." Rospotrebnadzor has also filed a lawsuit in Moscow against McDonald's, requesting that the chain remove menu items like cheeseburgers and Filet-o-Fish sandwiches.
