Today in un-bans: Since many restaurants were apparently skirting the law anyway, California legislators have finally made it legal for dogs to accompany their owners on restaurant patios. Eater SF reports that Governor Jerry Brown (himself a dog owner) signed a bill officially allowing restaurants with separate entrances to welcome dogs in their outdoor dining areas. Legally, dogs must be kept on a leash while their humans dine, and whether or not to implement the new law comes at each business owner's discretion.
The new law goes into effect on January 1, 2015, after which perhaps a Californian can start a version of the the Dogs in Pubs blog.
