NEW YORK CITY— Chef Mario Batali has teamed with tour operator Walks of New York to curate a "Mario Batali Signature Food Tour," focusing mostly on Greenwich Village. The New York Times reports that Batali himself won't make appearences, but the itinerary includes "private tastings" at both Otto and Lupa, plus stops at some of Batali's favorite places. [NYT]
BROOKLYN— The Brooklyn Botanical Garden will host the first-ever Brooklyn Oyster Riot on September 11, featuring oysters by the likes of Seattle's Taylor Shellfish, Long Island's Montauk Shellfish, and Rhode Island's American Mussel Harvesters. "Oystermen" from each shellfish farm will be on hand to talk about their product, which guests can pair with bites of crab cakes, potato samosas, and empanadas.
