Watch Mexican Food Expert Diana Kennedy at Home

Prolific cookbook author and authority on Mexican cuisine Diana Kennedy, 91, is the subject of a new short film from Nowness. Kennedy's career in cookbooks began in 1972 with The Cuisines of Mexico; she has since published eight additional volumes. Shot by James Casey, founder of New York City-based Swallow Magazine, the video shows Kennedy at home in the Mexican state of Michoacán. She walks and talks the camera through her garden, which is filled with plants from all over Mexico, including a leafy green that tastes strongly of cilantro and peppers that go from "green to orange." Says Kennedy of the plants that may outlive her: "When I make this place a foundation it will keep my ideas of conservation and sustainability alive." Go, watch:
