NEW YORK CITY— The James Beard Foundation will pay tribute to the late Charlie Trotter during its 2014 gala/fundraiser, this year titled "Celebrating Charlie Trotter and the New American Cuisine." Trotter friends and former colleagues like Norman Van Aken, Emeril Lagasse, Mindy Segal, and Larry Stone are among those who will celebrate their mentor during the multi-course dinner on November 14. The foundation also announced a new memorial scholarship — the Charlie Trotter Memorial Scholarship — which will grant $10,000 to an aspiring culinary-school student, starting in 2015. [EaterWire]
