As Eater Boston first announced in June 2013, Boston-based chef and restaurateur Barbara Lynch (Barbara Lynch Gruppo) will release a memoir in the Fall of 2016. According to Publishers Marketplace, Lynch — who is the winner of the 2014 James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurateur — will write a memoir entitled Where Did You Come From, detailing her journey from "a rough Irish neighborhood in South Boston to claiming her role as one of the country's leading chefs."
Atria, which recently published LA chef Ben Ford's first cookbook, Taming the Feast, is the publisher behind the deal. This is not the only book Lynch is working on at the moment. Last month at Aspen Food & Wine, she revealed that her team is working on a number of cookbooks, including "[w]ine books, cocktails, butchering, you name it. Everything we do. It's been 15 years, everything is already written. Sharing knowledge is great, I'm a big fan of that."
Lynch's career has been undeniably impressive. She's the sole Boston-based holder of a Grand Chef Relais & Châteaux distinction (for Menton). When Lynch was profiled in 2012 by The New York Times she revealed hardships from her youth: "I dealt drugs, anything to survive." Where Did You Come From is Lynch's first memoir.
