Chef René Redzepi, of Copenhagen's two Michelin-starred Noma, dined at Sukiyabashi Jiro in Tokyo today, and proved it by getting a photo taken with sushi master Jiro Ono himself. In the message beneath the photo, Redzepi alludes to the newest trend in dining oneupmanship, bypassing "I Foraged With René Redzepi" (IFWRR): "I got my picture with Jiro (that's the new "foraged with noma" - dined at bulli")" Noma chef Dan Giusti and head of R&D Lars Williams were also present.
Having a photo taken with the man who dreams of sushi has become something of a trend. This guy did it with Anthony Bourdain's comic of the same name. Singer Katy Perry even gave a blushing Jiro a kiss on the cheek in her proof photo. Even President Obama made time for a photo op in front of the sushi mecca earlier this year.
