Fast-casual restaurants looking to increase their check average may find inspiration at Colorado-based Noodles & Co. According to Businessweek, the chain has hired "a free-floating server whose job is to tempt guests to order dessert, beer, wine, and coffee." The company plans to launch the program at all 400 locations by 2016. They're already seeing check averages increase by three percent thanks to the in-your-face up-selling technique.
