Today, roasted chicken chain Boston Market proudly announced that it was adding a burger to its menu. The BLT Rotisserie Chicken Burger will be available at participating Boston Market locations through August 24, reports Burger Business. According to the chain's reps, Boston Market wants to enter "the 'Burger Wars'" with this new sandwich. Unfortunately, it's not a burger by any stretch of the imagination.
Pulled rotisserie chicken, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a roasted-garlic-avocado aïoli fill a sesame brioche bun. The bun is described as "burger-style," in marketing documents, but as Burger Business notes, pieces of pulled chicken on a bun is not a burger. Per Fast Casual, the burger is offered individually for $6.99, which puts it in the high range if Boston Market is aiming to compete with McDonald's and Burger King. Said CEO George Michel in a release: "We've created a burger as only Boston Market can – taking our signature rotisserie chicken and creating a delicious burger with bacon – it's the best of both worlds."
