Starbucks will soon start selling a special designer mug because nothing screams "fashionista" more than when your latte coordinates with your Louboutins. According to a press release, Starbucks has collaborated with Scott Sternberg, founder and designer behind fashion brand Band of Outsiders, on a "contemporary" mug that combines "classic and Iconic Starbucks style with Band of Outsiders' rebellious approach to design." Rebellious in this case means mugs that look like someone accidentally left a paintbrush resting on top and now there's multicolored or black paint dripping down the side.
The fashion authority that is the Starbucks press release declares that the mugs are a "must-have for fashion mavens." It also notes that the design is a (very literal) interpretation of "drip," Sternberg's favorite "slang" term for coffee. Sadly, the mugs are only 12 ounces which means that any rogue orderers of ganzo Starbucks concoctions will have to stick with bringing in their own containers.
This mug is Starbucks' fifth designer collaboration and the chain has previously teamed up with designers like Rodarte, Jonathan Adler, and Charlotte Ronson. The Band of Outsider mugs will be available online starting June 10 and in stores June 24 for $14.95, a real steal compared to these $150 mugs studded with Swarovski crystals.
