The upcoming pay-to-play reservations war gets another look by the folks at Food Republic, which takes a look at "members only" app Zurvu: The service charges a flat $5 fee for choice tables at participating restaurants. Chef Amanda Cohen's Dirt Candy is among the restaurants on Zurvu, despite the fact that the newish practice of paying for a reservation is "the funniest thing I've ever heard." (She does note, however, that the service makes things much easier for a restaurant that "can't afford to have a reservationist.") [Food Republic]
