Laurie Woolever is Anthony Bourdain's assistant, and in The Billfold, she writes about how she came upon this gig. Frustrated with her work as an editor a few years ago, she writes: "I emailed everyone I knew, offering to work as an editor, writer, assistant, cook, pretzel alphabetizer, general ass-wiper—anything as long as it was part-time.
