LOS ANGELES— Los Angeles Food & Wine, the multi-day tasting event that's put on by the same guys that are behind Pebble Beach Food & Wine, returns to LA August 21 through 24. While the full roster of guest chefs has not yet been released, reps confirm that Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Michael Chiarello, Scott Conant, Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot Bistro, Chicago), Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn, SF), Pierre Gagnaire, and Ari Taymor (Alma, LA) will be handing out tastes, participating in interviews, or leading cooking demonstrations. Tickets range from $50 to $350 and are now available to Chase Sapphire Card members; they will be made available to the general public on June 19. [EaterWire]
TV LAND— Here's Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show (2:10) thanking "any food that has the word artisanal on it ... for warning me that there's going to be a long winded story on the back." Then, Fallon tells a really long winded faux food story. [The Tonight Show]
SAN DIEGO— The Steaklocker is a mini-fridge that allows users to dry age steak at home. Currently looking for funding on Kickstarter, the company promises that the Steaklocker both mimics "old world dry aging techniques" and will save consumers at least 50%-70% on current retail dry age steak prices.
