Watch the Daily Show Mock Google Glass Users

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Last night on the Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones reported on the life of "intolerance" that users of the wearable nerd trophy Google Glass experience. The group of Google Glass users (aka Google Glass Explorers) tell stories of "discrimination" like one man who says, "I was denied admission and service at various establishments." (Indeed, several bars and restaurants have banned the device.)

Of course, the panel would not be complete without tech writer Sarah Slocum who earlier this year was allegedly attacked at a San Francisco bar for wearing Google Glass. She retells her story on the Daily Show, once again referring to the incident (some of which she caught on film) as a "hate crime." Jones remains unconvinced, even after making his own Google Glass: "Magellan was an explorer, Chuck Yeager was an explorer; you guys have a fucking camera on your face." Go, watch:
