Starbucks to Sling Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Starbucks will soon be your one stop shop for designer coffee mugs, croissant bun sandwiches, and now, grilled cheese. According to the Chicago Tribune, the coffee chain will start offering an "old-fashioned" grilled cheese later this month on June 24. The sandwich will feature three kinds of cheese (white cheddar, yellow cheddar, and mozzarella) on multi-grain bread and will retail for $5.25.

It's all part of an effort by the company to profit off of more than just coffee: A rep tells the Tribune that the chain will also launch a turkey pesto panini ($5.95) on the same day. Bloomberg notes that Starbucks has been testing hot sandwiches besides the grilled cheese — including options with beef and chicken — in 178 cafes in Phoenix, Arizona and Richmond, Virginia, so perhaps there will be more sandwich options to come. And with plans to serve beer, wine, and tapas in the future, it appears that soon customers will be able to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the 'bucks.
