The Glasshole wars continued today when representatives from Alamo Drafthouse, a chain of theaters with full-service food and beverage, confirmed that they were going to limit their patrons' Google Glass usage. CEO Tim League told Deadline Hollywood that his company's new policy would ban the use of Google Glass in theaters once "house lights dim and trailers begin." Eater Austin notes that this is the first official policy against Google Glass usage.
All 14 locations of the Alamo Drafthouse chain are affected by the ban, including those in Colorado, Texas, New York, and San Francisco, Calif. League and his colleagues have been weighing the decision to ban Google Glass for a year. Barring it from their theaters it is in line with the company's crazy strict anti-distraction policy, and, they hope, will aid in eliminating film piracy.
