Book Deals: Justin Warner, Sprudge, Psilakis, and More

Here are your Tuesday cookbook deals. NYC restaurateur (Do or Dine)/Food Network Star winner Justin Warner has inked a contract with Flatiron books; and coffee site Sprudge is publishing the first book off of their new imprint. Chef Michael Psilakis is also working on an upcoming book which will center on the Mediterranean diet; and Wall Street Journal columnist Aleksandra Crapanzano has signed a deal with Ten Speed Press to publish a book about eating in London.

Publishers Marketplace notes that chef/accomplished wine rapper Justin Warner, will write his first cookbook titled The Laws of Cooking… and How to Break Them. Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan, will publish the book in 2015. No word on whether there will be a recipe for his foie gras doughnuts.

Coffee site Sprudge has launched their own publishing imprint and first up is a book Birds of Unusual Vitality Vol. 2 by Eileen P. Kenny. According to Sprudge, the book is a "compendium of interviews with leading coffee personalities" and will feature photos "shot on glorious Kodak Portra 120 film with a Hasselblad 500c camera." The book will be released May 16 with "select copies available for retail at fine coffee bas in Australia and North America."

Publishers Marketplace also reveals that WSJ columnist Aleksandra Crapanzano's will publish The London Cookbook with Ten Speed Press. It will be an "insider's exploration" of London's "restaurants, dessert shops, tea and coffee stops, cocktail lounges, and hole-in-the-wall gems." No word yet on a release date.

Greek-American chef and restaurateur Michael Psilakis (Kefi, NYC) is also writing a new book according to Publishers Marketplace. It will "highlight the delicious and proven health benefits of the Mediterranean diet." Little, Brown will publish the cookbook which includes "75 recipes, a detailed meal plan, and nutritional guidelines." The release date is currently unknown.
