Chef José Andrés' new McLean, Virginia restaurant, called America Eats Tavern, is slated to open next week in the space that formerly housed Michel by Michel Richard. Eater DC takes a look inside the bright restaurant which is located inside the Ritz-Carlton. The restaurant was originally a year long pop-up in the former minibar space in DC. The decor is very patriotic: "We the People" is scrawled in large constitutional-style letters on the wall above the open kitchen, there's a flag pattern on parts of the ceiling, and the logo on restaurant's entrance is reminiscent of a flag. Chef Nate Waugaman will head up the kitchen which, according to the restaurant's website, will serve up a "new take on American classics" and will celebrate "native ingredients and some long forgotten dishes." Perhaps it's all in celebration of his recently minted status as an American citizen?
