Dreams, Flushed: LA's Bathroom-Themed Cafe Shutters

Los Angeles's infamous bathroom-themed restaurant, Magic Restroom Cafe, has called it quits. LA Magazine reports the toilet-filled restaurant shuttered over Memorial Day Weekend, because not even the novelty of sitting on a toilet while eating could inspire diners to order dishes with names like "smells-like-poop" (braised pork over rice) and "bloody number two" (vanilla-strawberry sundae). The restaurant had been a stateside version of the Modern Toilet cafes that are inexplicably popular in Taiwan and China; as Eater LA notes, the spot "crapped out" after just eight months in business.
