Week in Reviews: Narcissa Edition

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Narcissa-150.jpgNew York Times critic Pete Wells files a two-star review of Narcissa, the hotly anticipated restaurant from NYC chef John Fraser and André Balazs at the Standard East Village hotel. Wells especially likes the vegetables dishes which "have a swaggering originality that the meat and seafood rarely match" and ponders "food porn": "Whether teenage boys will hide pictures of undressed kohlrabi under their mattresses remains to be seen."
