Here's a video of a woman demolishing two 72-ounce steak meals (including sides) in less than 15 minutes at The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. According to the Amarillo Globe-News, Molly Schuyler, a competitive eater from Nebraska, set a new record for the time it takes to eat the dinner, which includes a 72-ounce steak, one baked potato, salad, a bread roll with butter, and a shrimp cocktail. To complete the challenge, most participants only eat one steak meal, but Schuyler decided to eat two.
According to the restaurant's website, participants in the "72oz Steak Challenge" must finish their food in under an hour, which was no problem for Schuyler, who crushed her first medium-rare steak in under five minutes. Big Texan co-owner Danny Lee tells the Amarillo Globe-News, "If there's a zombie apocalypse, I want to stay away from this girl."
What surprised Lee most about Schuyler was her slight frame: The competitive eater weighs 125 pounds and is about 5-foot-7. Lee notes, "She's one of the daintiest, smallest ladies I've seen try the 72-ounce steak." Her frame hasn't stopped Schuyler from dominating eating contests. Back in January, the self-described "bottomless pit" downed 363 wings in 30 minutes and won $22,000 in the process; that same month, she also broke a world record by eating a 72-ounce steak in Portland, Oregon in two minutes and 44 seconds. Even though Schulyer has set a new record at The Big Texan, she tells the paper that she plans on returning to attempt to eat three of the steak dinners, which would mean consuming 216 ounces — or about 13.5 pounds of steak — in one sitting.
