Because novelty hamburgers have apparently run their course, a Mission-style burrito restaurant in San Francisco is dishing out a novelty version of grab-and-go wrap: Behold the "Soulrrito," a soul food/Mexican mash-up that stuffs tri-tip steak, yams, collard greens, and a salsa-infused mac-and-cheese into a flour tortilla.
San Francisco's acclaimed Papalote dreamed up the burrito in collaboration with soul food spot Piccadilly Catering and Restaurant, with owner Miguel Escobedo telling the Bold Italic that a traditional plate of Southern food — containing "a starch, a protein, and a green or vegetable" — contained the exact "formula" for a successful burrito. The mash-up is available one day only — tomorrow — at Papalote's Mission District location.
