Last night on the Daily Show, host Jon Stewart went into meltdown mode after reporting on Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg's claims that he got food poisoning from the Shake Shack at Citi Field in New York City. "I'll tell you what's happening here," says Stewart. "A great New York City restaurant is being slandered by some jagoff from Philadelphia."
He directs his anger at the iconic foods of Philadelphia. He has choice words for the Philly cheesesteak: "What kind of city takes the parts of the cow normal people throw away; fries it up on a hunk of bread; and before they can call it their signature dish asks, 'You want me to put Whiz on that?'" He moves onto Philadelphia cream cheese: "What city is so insecure it has to put its name on cream cheese? Cream cheese: a dish that makes itself if you leave milk out ... Seriously, thanks for building these in brick shape, in case I want to build my own international house of assholes." Stewart's been known to freak out when he feels New York City's foods have been threatened in any way. Last year he stoked the fires of the great NYC vs Chicago pizza debate, but thankfully that got resolved. Go, watch (the rant begins around 4:10):
