John Currence — the James Beard-winning chef whose first cookbook Pickles, Pigs & Whiskey was among 2013's best — has inked a deal for book #2. According to Publishers Marketplace (sub. required), Currence's Big Bad Breakfast, named for Currence's Oxford, Mississippi breakfast restaurant, will offer "the definitive take on Southern breakfast." Currence's City Grocery group debuted its morning concept (with dishes like shrimp and grits, lowcountry skillets, and buttermilk pancakes) back in 2008, and Big Bad Breakfast's second location — in Birmingham, Alabama — will open any day now.
Although Pickles, Pigs & Whiskey was published by Andrews McMeel Publishing, Currance has teamed with Ten Speed Press for the sequel. No details on the release date yet.
