It's a big year for chef Charles Phan: His San Francisco restaurant the Slanted Door recently won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant and now, here's the cover of his upcoming cookbook of the same name. The Slanted Door takes a look at the food of the "modern Vietnamese" restaurant Phan opened in 1995. As previously noted, the book is a follow up to his 2012 cookbook Vietnamese Home Cooking (which made Eater's essential cookbooks list) and will be an "accessible, modern take on classic Vietnamese dishes."

The publisher's language adds that it will contain "iconic recipes" from the restaurant like Vietnamese beurre blanc and rack of lamb with tamarind sauce. Notably, the cookbook will also include an "extensive" section on cocktails and essays about the restaurant's wine program. The Slanted Door will be published by Ten Speed Press and will be released on October 7 (pre-order at Amazon).
