Massimo Bottura to Open a Restaurant in Eataly Istanbul

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Three Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura of Modena's Osteria Francescana (the #3 restaurant in the world) is opening a restaurant in Istanbul, Turkey. Called Ristorante Italia di Massimo Bottura the restaurant will be located on the top floor Eataly Instanbul and is slated to open on May 27th.

Ristorante Italia will be Bottura's third restaurant, and his first outside of Modena, Italy. The website describes the menu as a "reworking" of Italian classics: "Chef Bottura has reworked 100 classic Italian recipes from the northern Alps to the southern tip of Pantellieria to embrace the diversity and bounty of Italy. Iconic Italian dishes that have been challenged, reimagined and transformed from this repertoire."

A spokesperson for Bottura tells Eater that the chef was invited to open in Eataly by founder Oscar Farinetti. The spokesperson also tells Eater that the restaurant can seat a maximum of 88 people between its indoor and outdoor spaces. Check out the press release below for more:
