DB Brasserie's Vegas Opening; Harlem Food Festival

LAS VEGAS— Chef Daniel Boulud celebrated the opening of his Las Vegas restaurant DB Brasserie with what Eater Vegas is calling "some serious star power." Thomas Keller, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, and some Vegas showgirls were on-hand for the grand opening party, which featured a Valastro-created "Welcome to Vegas" cake. NEW YORK CITY— Details are scarce at the moment, but the New York Post's Page Six reports chef Marcus Samuelsson plans to launch a "major Harlem food festival" in 2015. The Post says Samuelsson will make an official announcement sometime later this month. [NYP]

NEW YORK CITY— The Umami Food & Art Festival will present a one-off cocktail event tomorrow evening (May 13) in NYC: MEANS OF PRODUCTION: Shaken or Stirred promises a performative event that "explores the relationship of mixology, movement, and making," featuring bartenders like Jack McGarry and Chris Lowder working under a blacklight motion capture.
