Recipe website Food52 and cookbook publisher Ten Speed are joining forces to launch the Food52 Works Imprint. First up: a cookbook based on Food52's Genius Recipes column by Kristen Miglore called Genius Recipes: 100 Recipes That Will Change the Way You Cook. Ten Speed VP Hannah Rahill will head Food52 Works and they expect to publish three to four books per year. Fall 2015 will see two single subject books from the imprint; one on vegan food and one on baking.
Ten Speed is part of Crown Publishing Group and is responsible for books including Andy Ricker's cookbooks, Ivan Ramen and Manresa. Food52 has previously published two cookbooks, both with William Morrow. Below, a press release about Food52 Works.
James Beard Award-Winning Site Food52 Joins Forces with Ten Speed Press to Launch the Food52 Works Imprint
April 30, 2014—Ten Speed Press, an imprint of the Crown Publishing Group and one of the industry's leading cookbook publishers, and Food52, the crowd-sourced content and commerce destination, announced today a new cookbook imprint: Food52 Works.
Hannah Rahill, Vice President and Associate Publisher of Ten Speed Press, will be the general editor of the imprint. Food52 co-founders Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs will work closely with Rahill and Ten Speed's Vice President and Publisher Aaron Wehner in shaping the development and direction of the imprint.
The inaugural Food52 Works title, Genius Recipes: 100 Recipes That Will Change the Way You Cook, will debut in Spring 2015. Written by Food52 Executive Editor Kristen Miglore, this first title is a large-format book based on the James Beard Award-nominated and most popular column on the site. Two single-subject books about vegan cooking and baking will follow in Fall 2015, with three to four books planned per year thereafter. The series will maintain Food52's approachable yet inspiring style by presenting new insights and original recipes addressing areas of greatest interest for home cooks. The inaugural title will also be available in Food52's curated online kitchen and home shop, Provisions.
Says Wehner, "I've been an avid reader of Food52 since the site first launched, and it has been fascinating to see how Amanda and Merrill have nurtured it from a dedicated community of passionate home cooks to one of the premier publications in the online food space, both in terms of content and aesthetics. Their recipes and photography are constant sources of inspiration, and Ten Speed is thrilled to be partnering with the Food52 team on launching their book program."
Stubbs says, "Ten Speed is a natural partner for Food52's imprint. We've long admired the brand's leadership and style, as well as the amazing tastemakers who have produced cookbooks with them. As we look to share the recipes and cooking expertise of the Food52 team and community with an even larger audience, we recognize the power of print cookbooks to supplement our online presence and spread the cooking philosophy and style for which the Food52 brand is known. We look forward to building a long-lasting relationship with the Ten Speed team."
