Human fireball and culinary gremlin Guy Fieri's new Las Vegas restaurant, named Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar, officially opens today. Eater Las Vegas reports that "his tattoos play a prominent role in the decor" and "UNLV memorabilia is found throughout" the space. The menu features many ridiculously named dishes like the "Off-The Hook Smash-Burger" and the "Mayor of Flavortown," similar to the one in New York City. But Guy Fieri doesn't want you to worry that this is going to be anything like that shitshow.
Fieri promised the Las Vegas Weekly that his Vegas restaurant will be better than his critically mauled NYC outpost, Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar. "I only do things the best I can do them in the moment that I'm doing them. Have I learned from that experience? Yes. But I was doing the best I could do. Also, remember it's a licensing deal. I'm the chef, I make the recipes, I make the idea and I give it to a group. Let's be realistic about what this was."
He seems to have basically thrown his NYC kitchen krew under the bus by admitting that he only "make[s] the recipes" but ultimately has no command over whether or not the food is actually cooked well. Then again, there's only so well one can execute a recipe for "Guy-talian" nachos loaded with pepperoni and ricotta crema. In an attempt to gain some early positive reviews for Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar, Fieri has invited 20 Yelpers to a "Meet & Eat" today. Will Donkey Sauce fare better in Vegas?
