LOS ANGELES— This weekend's Los Angeles Times Festival of Books features its fair share of chef and cookbook events, so the newspaper has rounded them all up in this handy guide. Suzanne Goin, Scott Conant, Roy Choi, and Hugh Acheson are among those participating in live cooking demonstrations; in Choi's case, he'll hit the stage for an "intimate interview" with LAT's Jonathan Gold. BOOK CLUB— The newest book from James Beard Award-winning author Michael Ruhlman is now available on store shelves: Egg, published by Little, Brown and Company, features nearly 100 recipes devoted to eggs, described as "the world's most versatile ingredient." [EaterWire]

AUSTIN— Austin's meaty festival Live Fire! has announced the line-up for its 2014 event, taking over the legendary Salt Lick Bar-B-Que next Thursday, April 17. Some of Texas's best chefs and pitbosses — including Matt McCallister, Aaron Franklin, and Jason Dady — will all cook over live fire, in what the Austin Food and Wine Alliance calls a "foremost celebrations of beef." Tickets are $75 with proceeds benefiting the alliance's culinary grants; more information here. [EaterWire]
