Restaurateurs Michael and Alan Stillman (of the Fourth Wall Group) reveal the new concept inside their Manhattan space formerly known as the Hurricane Club and Hurricane Steak + Sushi: Eater NY has a look inside General Assembly, a French and Italian-inspired bistro that swaps Polynesian decor for a dining room dotted with Art Nouveau touches. Famed design group AvroKo — which originally designed the Hurricane Club — is also behind the revamp, transforming the space into a bright and airy room featuring 170 seats (some as crescent-shaped banquettes, others at light-wood chairs).
As for the menu, chef Craig Koketsu stayed on-board through the concept change, swapping steak and sushi for dishes like crudite with flatbread, rabbit Wellington, and steak frites.
