A 2012 ruling that a restaurateur will have to pay a former employee $1.6 million for "[warning] his staff weekly about the eternal damnation awaiting gay people" has held up in appeals court. Edward Globokar, former owner of Mary Ann's Mexican restaurant, will pay the fee to chef/lesbian Mirella Salemi, who says Globokar told her to "dress more effeminately, and to marry a man and have children."
