What chef is partnering with a cruise ship now? World-saving British chef Jamie Oliver is, partnering with Royal Caribbean to bring locations of his Jamie's Italian to two cruise ships. According to a press release, Jamie's Italian will be opening aboard the brand new Quantum of the Seas when it sets sail in November. There will also be a Jamie's Italian aboard the Quantum's "sister-ship" Anthem of the Seas, which will set sail in April 2015. The partnership is a part of the cruise company's "Dynamic Dining" program that "give[s] guests choices as varied as the world's most cosmopolitan cities as well as the freedom and flexibility to decide when, where and with whom they dine each evening." In the video below, Oliver says the on-ship restaurant will be a "nice little tweak on the Jamie's Italian experience." In the press release he says it will be "brilliant!"
News of the Royal Caribbean partnership follows a string of expansions for Jamie's Italian. Last Summer, Oliver announced plans to bring his slamming, scrummy dishes to Brazil, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. Oliver has previously announced plans to expand Jamie's Italian to the US, Turkey, Russia, and Singapore. This year he's working on opening in Stockholm and Hong Kong. Jamie's Italian Restaurant to debut aboard Quantum of the Seas
NEW YORK, March 26, 2014 – Royal Caribbean International announced today that the inaugural of Quantum of the Seas in November 2014 will include the opening of renowned chef Jamie Oliver's first restaurant at sea. The addition of Jamie's Italian to the restaurant portfolio aboard the Royal Caribbean ship followed by sister ship – Anthem of the Seas in April 2015 – reflects the company's plan to unveil a new vision of dining at sea. The Quantum-class ships will introduce expanded restaurant concepts to exceed the expectations of today's food-conscious traveler. Modern, distinct eateries, such as Jamie's Italian will be a focal point of the smaller, more diverse and more personalized dining options giving guests flexibility and control to shape their own culinary journey.

Quantum class will debut in fall 2014 with Quantum of the Seas, followed by her sister-ship Anthem of the Seas in spring 2015. Quantum ships span 18 decks, encompass 167,800 gross registered tons, carry 4,180 guests at double occupancy and feature 2,090 staterooms. Quantum of the Seas will sail out of the New York Harbor from her homeport of Cape Liberty on 7- to 12-night itineraries during the winter 2014/15 season. Anthem of the Seas will call Southampton, UK, home in April 2015 and offer cruises to the Mediterranean before being based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for the winter months.
