Watch a Trailer for a Nathan's Famous Documentary

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Here's a trailer for Famous Nathan, a documentary feature about the iconic Brooklyn hot dog stand Nathan's Famous. Made by founder Nathan Handwerker's grandson, the film explores the history of the Coney Island hot dog stand plus Handwerker's "family history, the immigrant experience, and Nathan's pursuit of the American dream." Says one expert interviewed in the film: "I doubt if there was a restaurant that did a better gross business than Nathan's in the whole United States of America." The film will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC next month. Go, watch the trailer:
