It's been a good week for television-themed novelty drinks: Not only is there a Walking Dead novelty beer brewed with real (goat) brains, yesterday news broke that an officially-licensed Star Trek beer is in the works. According to StarTrek.com, the beer is inspired by the fictional Klingon empire and their signature drink "warnog" and is the result of a partnership with the Federation of Beer. Produced by Tin Man Brewing in Indiana, the Warnog will actually be "a modern Dunkelweizen" with a "mild banana and clove" aroma and "subtle sweet malt character." The beer will be available throughout the county "later this year."
The beer is the second Star Trek-themed beer project from the Federation of Beer, and their first in America. Last year the Federation of Beer — whose mission is to " produce high quality Craft Beer, to honour Gene Roddenberry's legacy, and to unite both Star Trek and Craft Beer fans" — released Vulcan Ale in Canada. Last year also saw the limited release of Star Trek red wines.
