Watch a New Trailer for the elBulli-Inspired Tasting Menu

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Here is a new trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy Tasting Menu, which tracks a couple who have booked a table for the last night at the fictional Chakula, the "world's best restaurant" in Spain. Riffing on the now-shuttered elBulli, the chef of the seaside restaurant is a woman who wants to close her restaurant "with a smile." And because it's a romantic comedy, the couple has split up by the time their reservation rolls around.

In the trailer below, diners arrive at the seaside restaurant for the final meal, which seems to have plenty of Adrià-worthy surprises and spheres. The trailer also goes into the kitchen where the chefs pump themselves up to make their final, perfect meal. The film stars actress Claudia Bassols, occasional Iron Chef America judge and traveling companion to Mario Batali and Mark Bittman in the PBS series Spain... on the Road Again. The film hits theaters on April 18. Go, watch:
