Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Here's Gawker's review of the American Girl Café, the in-store restaurant for children and their favorite dolls located at American Girl Place in NYC. On the atmosphere: "If I had to pick a word to describe the American Girl Café, it would be chill ... I think everyone was placated by the commerce that inevitably preceded their trip up to the restaurant ... And no one on staff acted like it was the least bit strange we were there alone and (initially) doll-less." [Gawker]
