Last month Philadelphia chef Jose Garces announced that he would use a ticket system at his hotly anticipated restaurant Volvér and as promised, the tickets are now on sale. The first night of service will be Wednesday April 16. Eater Philly points out that the ticket pricing structure isn't exactly what was originally explained. Each ticket available is currently going for $175, versus a range from $75 - $250. Also, tax and tip are not included in the ticket price as was previously announced.
Reps from the restaurant tell Eater Philly that Garces is using Austin, TX-based Thunder Tix to power the system. The prepaid ticketing model has been gaining traction at tasting menu-focused restaurants, with many using Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas' ticketing system from their Chicago restaurants Next and Alinea. Iliana Regan of Elizabeth in Chicago uses the Achatz/Kokonas system, as do chefs Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook, and Vinny Dotolo at their LA restaurant Trois Mec.
UPDATE 3/13: Reps from Volvér confirm there are pre-theatre dinners for $75 and $100 are now available.
