Toronto chef Matt Kantor is on-the-record for his love of cookbooks, thanks to a delightfully weird video marking the 30th anniversary of the storied Cookbook Store. Now, with the store's shutter, Kantor returns with this video "For the Cookbook Store," a sad lament of what possibly could have been done to save to space.
During various states of disbelief and derangement, Kantor thinks aloud: "I should've bought more books. Maybe I should've bought more David Chang magazines, even though I hate them." And, "they had Adrià come in for five minutes. I couldn't understand him. It was great." The Cookbook Store's last day in business was March 5, but it will officially say goodbye during a community potluck scheduled for March 23. Go, feel Kantor's pain and watch here:
