Pizza Hut New Zealand now offers a stuffed crust pizza filled with Marmite, the much-reviled yeast spread perhaps better known by its Aussie name, Vegemite. The "Chee-Zee Marmite Stuffed Crust Pizza" — which officially launched in late February — apparently came as a result of an informal Facebook contest to find the "best iconic Kiwi combination" to throw atop (or into) a pizza. The stunt creation combines the chain's triple-mozzarella Cheese Extreme pizza with a mozzarella-and-Marmite stuffed crust, and early orders tagged on Twitter reveal the whole pizzas arrive with a Marmite-written message encouraging eaters to immortalize their order with the hashtag #CheeZeeMite.
Apparently stunt food in New Zealand also comes with a disclaimer: On its official site, Pizza Hut NZ peddles the $8 pizzas with the warning that "Chee-Zee Marmite Stuffed Crust is a treat food and should be eaten as part of a balanced diet." It's only available for a "limited time," so yeasty food-paste lovers should act now.
