Photos: Phaidon

Ferran Adrià's mammoth seven-volume elBulli catalog, elBulli 2005-2011, comes out March 3, and he's going on a North American tour to promote it. See the full schedule below, but there will be events in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, and Toronto between March 7-15. The book itself is a beast: it costs $625, weighs 40 pounds, is 2,720 pages and contains 1,400 images and an acrylic slipcase. Check out an expanded preview here; the book tour schedule is below.

Phaidon Announces 5-City North American Book Tour in March With Chef Ferran Adrià to Launch: elBulli 2005-2011

New York, NY (February 18, 2014) – Phaidon today announced that legendary chef Ferran Adrià, will embark on a five-city author tour to promote the landmark seven- volume set of books to which he has dedicated his time since closing elBulli in 2011: elBulli 2005-2011 (Phaidon, $625.00, seven volumes, hardback in a plexiglass slipcase, pub date: March 3, 2014).

From March 7-15, Ferran will travel to Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, New York City, and Chicago for a series of public talks, book signings, cocktail receptions and special events.

ELBULLI 2005-2011 is Ferran's magnum opus, a catalogue raisonné of his legendary restaurant's final years. Following years of analysis of their own work and creative process, Ferran and his team have assembled an incomparable, objective documentation of their most prolific years. Each of the first six volumes—one devoted to each of the years between 2005 and 2011--comprises a catalogue of color photography for every dish developed in each season, accompanied by detailed recipes that explain the components of each dish. Moving from season to season, the volumes follow the coursing progression of a typical elBulli menu, from cocktails, to snacks, tapas, pre-desserts, desserts, and, finally, elBulli's signature morphings.

The seventh volume, Evolutionary Analysis, focuses on the creative evolution of the restaurant, tracking key discoveries and products and examining and cross-referencing the influences and creative methods that defined each of elBulli's seasons.
